Tree Planting Archbishop of Canterbury

The Archbishop of Canterbury and the Metropolitan of Church of Ceylon The Most Revd. & Rt. Hon Justin Welby planted the tree ‘Amherstia nobilis’ at the Cathedral grounds on 30th August 2019. Associated with the Archbishop were Bishop Dhiloraj Canagasabey the Presiding Bishop of the Church of Ceylon, Ven. Perry Brohier, Vicar of the Cathedral and Mr. Vimal Peiris and Mr. Dushy Perera, who have had a long association with the Cathedral garden. ‘Amherstia nobilis’ is a tall tropical tree with a wide spreading canopy with large showy red flowers.
